The Solo cleats allow you to keep going when you encounter icy terrain. At an astonishingly low weight (just 68g) there is no real competition in this sense. They are incredibly strong yet compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

Our Verdict

 Vargo’s Titanium Pocket Cleats Solo are almost half the weight of the superlight V3 pocket cleats with a single strap and line of spikes providing the traction. The top quality titanium spikes provide serious strength at the lowest possible weight, something that is always a great combination. They are still incredibly strong yet compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand. This solo version is more suited for emergency traction on frozen ground rather than something you might wear for prolonged periods. They do provide an impressive amount of grip and due to the size they can easily be stowed in a pocket on a running vest or waist belt.

Their unisex one-size-fits-all sizing is designed to adjusts to all sizes of trail running and lightweight hiking shoes. This is good news for those with larger size feet as you won’t have to carry any extra weight. Obviously the Pocket Cleats are not substitutes for crampons and are not appropriate for mountaineering.
