We think the X-Pot 1.4Litre comes in a bit too heavy for backpacking but its Nirvana for camper vans or sea kayaks where space is a premium. But there are drawbacks to this type of camping pot.

Design features include an embedded stainless-steel ring in the rim which creates a rigid structure to provide confidence when cooking large volumes of food, a in-built strainer in the lid and the ability to collapse into a small disc that can easily slide into a backpack or camping box and neatly nest with other pieces in the series X-series.

Our Verdict

Sea to Summit’s X-Pot 1.4 Litre is probably a size that two people would use, however its weight is getting a bit too heavy compared to the conventional pans available. The real advantage of this type of collapsable pot is volume when stored – so these are ideal for camper vans or working it through a sea kayak hatch opening. Their limitations include not being able to allow flames up the side of the pot on the stove – for some this will be too limiting.

Oh, we also love the transparent lid – like the pots in my kitchen at home.
