Our Verdict

Platypus’ QuickDraw Microfilter is exactly that, a very small filter weighing just 68g and measuring just under 13cm in length with a 4cm diameter. It uses hundreds of tiny hollow fibres to filter to quickly clean up to 3L of water per minute but this is when it is working at 100% so usually the flow rate is less than this but even after a lot of use the rate is decent enough. For such a lightweight piece of kit it is seriously durable and should keep going with regular cleaning and a bit of care. It is quick and easy to clean with a simple shake with clean water or a backflush (with no need for any tools). 

You can use this filter as a straw directly at the water source or attach it to a bottle of water to drink easily. The filter can be combined with a range of Platypus hydration options or other branded bottles with a 28mm screw top opening. It safely removes 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa, including Giardia, Cryptosporidium, E. coli, Salmonella and Cholera.
