Sometimes what you really want to round out a perfect day of hiking or surfing is a good hot shower. The Helio Pressure Shower uses a 11 litre welded fabric water tank pressurized by a foot pump, to give you 5-7 minutes of steady water.  

Nemo says:

Unlike gravity camp showers that need to be hung overhead and produce dismal water pressure, the award-winning Helio™ portable pressurized shower and sprayer rests on the ground and provides the pressure you need to wash hair, do the dishes, rinse off gear, water your plants, or wash the dog.

You can quickly and easily pressurize the 2.9-gallon tank with a foot pump – and with occasional pumps you can keep it fully pressurized for 5-7 minutes of strong, continuous spray. The tank cannot be over-inflated. Set the black tank in the sun to warm up gradually, or fill it directly with hot water for a warm shower.

Refill Helio™ anywhere, even without a hose. The 7-foot neoprene hose is long enough to hold it overhead for a shower, or to reach all angles of dirty gear, muddy paws, or salty wetsuits. Pair with Heliopolis™ privacy shelter, which has a fitted nozzle holder for hands-free overhead showering, for the ultimate home-away-from-home shower in the backcountry.

Our Verdict

Nemo’s 2020 Helio Pressure Shower is a truly awesome product – if you’ve used gravity shower contraptions designed for camping you’ll realise just what a breakthrough the Helios is. At just under 700 grams it’s ideal for car camping, van life or basecamp use if you want a bit of lightweight luxury when you’re based in one camp spot for a long time.

The simplicity of the Helio is great and the benefits of being able to shower whenever you usually would speaks for itself. They are of course, slightly better suited for use in warmer climates but you can top up with hot water if you have some available. You can also leave the black tank in the sun to warm up gradually.
