This Carbon Tent Pole is a three segment pole with an aluminium end that is as a lightweight and packable alternative to trekking poles for tents designed to work with them.

Our Verdict

Gram-counter Gear’s Carbon Tent Pole is a great option if you use a trekking pole tent or tarp and don’t want to have to carry trekking poles. The 10mm diameter provides a solid pole capable of holding up in challenging conditions. The pole comes in two different lengths to suit your tent or tarp needs with a shorter 115cm or longer 125cm version. Each of these comes in a three segment or five segment version too. This allows bikepackers to opt for the shorter pole sections when packed in a bike bag while the longer and thinner three part pole sides easily into larger rucksacks.

The poles are simple and easy to use with a durable elasticated cord running through. They are not spring poles so you need to put segments together carefully to avoid damage. Otherwise, this pole is a surprisingly strong and durable piece of kit. Check the length of pole your trekking pole tent requires. It ideally suited to work with trekking pole tents that require a 115cm pole or with other tarps and shelters.
